Gnome-da, diminutive Joker Master and trainer in the ways of the Farce. Gnome-da's star pupil, and only pupil, is Flak Flotsam. A native of planet Dingaling, Gnome-da resembles a lawn gnome, and speaks in reverse. He often tells Flak to "Ass your of out head your get."

The Teddywoks, a species of cute, cuddly, furry, primitive creatures who worship Mister Doodad as a god. Flak and crew slaughter as many Teddywoks as they can as often as they can.

Professor What-The, an intelligent and eccentric traveler of space and time. The Professor usually wears a long coat, floppy hat, and an absurdly long piece of colored toilet paper that is loosely wrapped several times around her neck. Her vessel is known as the Turdis. Professor What-The occasionally travels with her robotic dog, Asi9, who is completely immobile and must be pulled around by a string.

Hung Solo, cocky pilot and employee of a competing hero-for-hire company. Hung and Flak have been rivals since their days at the Space Hero Academy. Hung and his copilot, Dandruffo the Flakey, often arrive on the scene before Flak's crew does, and they often take all the rewards and bounties.

The crew of space station BS 5-9, a large tin can and home to thousands upon thousands of humans and aliens with psychological issues. Among the thousands of BS 5-9's inhabitants are a member of a joined species (a gummy worm reluctantly dwelling in the body of a humanoid woman), a great-tasting liquid shapeshifter, an ambassador from the Moron government, and a station commander with delusions of immortality.
